Grade 1 Cahier des sons/vocabulaire

These workbooks teach the children to hear the difference between different sounds and also help them to learn words in French. The Vocabulary tab has videos that take each section of these workbooks and show a colour photo, the printed word and the spoken word. Seeing these videos multiple times will help your child learn.

Note – our school division used to use a letter font called D’Nealian in which most of the letters had “tails” as a way to prepare children to learn cursive writing in future years. Research has shown that this is not helpful for most children and that many children find D’Nealian more difficult to learn. A new copy of this workbook using the more traditional print was released in 2020 but these videos were made based on the previous version. These videos do not work with the new version as the updated version has changed. PDF copies of the old version are linked below.
